Vibrant Farm is a family-owned, sustainable farm in Litchfield County, Connecticut, operated by Meghan and Curtis Breuer. Since 2021, we’ve been dedicated to growing fresh, high-quality produce for our local community while respecting and nurturing the land. Our farm reflects our commitment to sustainable farming, local partnerships, and providing nutrient-dense crops every week of the year.
Meet the Farmers: Meghan and Curtis Breuer
Meghan and Curtis’s journey to farming was shaped by their shared love of nature, curiosity, and a desire to build a meaningful life rooted in resiliency.
Meghan grew up on a homestead property in southern New Hampshire, surrounded by fruit trees, berries, and vegetable gardens. Her childhood was spent exploring the natural world, playing music, and enjoying sports. Curtis, born and raised in the Adirondacks of New York, developed a passion for gardening, outdoor adventures, and entrepreneurship, dabbling in ventures like gem and mineral collecting and sales.
The two met while studying geology at Union College in New York. Their academic adventures took them abroad to Australia, New Zealand, and the Bahamas, where they fostered their connection and love for the environment. After college, Curtis began working in Texas’s oil fields, while Meghan joined the Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah, Georgia. Despite the distance, they pursued a long-distance relationship before deciding to pivot their careers toward agriculture.
Meghan honed her skills through an apprenticeship at the renowned Stone Barns Center, while Curtis worked as a professional gardener in Westchester County, New York. Together, they co-managed Grape Hollow Farm, a diverse farm operation with vegetables, livestock, and orchard systems. After the farm’s closure, Meghan and Curtis seized the opportunity to launch Vibrant Farm on their current property on Old Mt. Tom Road, where they’ve cultivated a thriving farm business ever since.

Our Farm and Practices
We grow a wide range of seasonal produce, including:
- Seasonal Specialties: Blueberries, snap peas, beans, ginger
- Salad crops: Salad mix, lettuce, asian greens, tomatoes, carrots, radishes
- Winter vegetables: Turnips, rutabaga, beets, cabbage, winter squash, specialty greens
As a true four-season farm, we use greenhouses and storage crops to ensure fresh, local produce is available year-round. Certified Naturally Grown, we focus on soil health by using natural fertilizers, composting local waste streams, and planting cover crops to boost fertility and grow vibrant, healthy produce.

In just four seasons, Vibrant Farm has transitioned from a start-up to a sustainable business, thanks to the incredible support of our local community. We sell directly to customers at farmers’ markets in Bantam and Litchfield and supply produce to local grocers and award-winning restaurants.
