Job Summary
Vibrant Farm is a family-run, Certified Naturally Grown vegetable farm in Bantam, CT. We grow year-round, using our fields and greenhouses to supply fresh produce to local restaurants, grocery stores, wholesale customers, and farmers’ markets throughout the region.
We are looking for a dependable and motivated Crew Member to become a valued part of our year-round farm team. Our immediate priorities are harvest, post-harvest work, order fulfillment, and farmers’ markets. Our new team member will work alongside an experienced crew harvesting vegetables, washing and packing produce, fulfilling orders, and preparing for and staffing our weekly farmers’ markets.
Our work changes with the seasons. Winter includes harvest, wash/pack, greenhouse production, farmers’ markets, crop storage, farm projects, and preparation for the coming growing season.
Self-motivation, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit are essential. We value team members who enjoy physical work, maintain a strong pace, pay attention to detail, think on their feet, and take pride in doing high-quality work together.
Previous farming experience is welcome, but not required. Experience in agriculture, landscaping, food service, manufacturing, sales/customer service, or another active, fast-paced environment may translate well to our farm.
This is a year-round position, but does not necessarily require full-time hours. We welcome applicants of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in consistent work and becoming a valued member of our farm team.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Harvest, wash, pack, and prepare produce for our commercial customers and farmers’ markets
- Pack and fulfill wholesale and retail orders and maintain an organized wash/pack workspace
- Prepare for and staff our weekly farmers’ markets, including packing, setup, sales, customer service, and breakdown
- Participate in all aspects of commercial vegetable production as needed, including seeding, planting, irrigation, cultivation, crop care, and general farm projects
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an active, fast-paced work environment preferred
- Reliable, punctual, observant, and attentive to detail
- Able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a small team
- Flexible and able to learn new skills and adapt as priorities change
- Comfortable with physical work and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs safely and repeatedly
- Comfortable working directly with customers
- Availability for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning farmers’ markets
Pay & Benefits
- $18–$22/hour, depending on relevant experience and skills
